If one man or woman craves freedom -- liberty -- he/she  must remember that all  other men and women long for the same freedom. Groups of such liberty-loving mortals cannot live together in peace without becoming subservient to such laws, rules, and regulations as will grant each person the same degree of freedom while at the same time safeguarding an equal degree of freedom for all of his fellow mortals. If one man is to be absolutely free, then another must become an absolute slave. And the relative nature of freedom is true socially, economically, and politically. Freedom is the gift of civilization made possible by the enforcement of LAW.

Canada blocks torture charges against Bush By: L.A.W. The Canadian government used a claim of diplomatic immunity Monday to block torture charges laid under the Canadian Criminal Code against President George W. Bush. The charges had been laid by Gail Davidson of LAW [Lawyers against the War] on the occasion of Bush’s visit to Canada on November 30. They concerned the well-known abuses at Abu Ghraib prison, photos of which shocked the world earlier this year, as well as similar abuses at Guantánamo Bay that have emerged more recently. On behalf of LAW, Davidson was seeking to fix a date for a hearing into the charges and came armed with evidence, but Judge William Kitchen acceded to the Attorney General’s objections and declared the charges ‘a nullity’.
About LAW LAW calls for:an immediate end to the bombing and other illegal use of force in Iraq and Afghanistan. --- the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly and the Secretary General of the United Nations to discharge their legal duties and institutional responsibilities to maintain international peace and security and to ensure that member states’ reactions to threats to international security, whether such threats are perceived or demonstrated, conform in all respects with international law and principles of justice. ----national government and responsible organs of the United Nations to ensure that all actions taken internationally by states in response to inter-state crimes and disputes including the prevention, investigation, prosecution and punishment of crimes adhere to international law. --- national governments and the responsible organs of the United Nations to ensure the rights of combatants and non-combatants, fair trials for offenders suspected of or charged with inter-state crimes,no impunity for human rights offenders.
Bush War: Military Necessity or War Crimes? Part 1

A reporter visits Guantanamo Bay and asks a guard about the sign at the front gate of the prison camp. The sign says: "Honor bound -- to defend freedom." The reporter asks "Isn't that a little strange, a slogan about freedom on the gate of a prison camp?" The guard replies "Doesn't seem strange to me-- does it seem strange to you?"  This exchange appeared in a New York Times Magazine story. One can't help but wonder if either of these persons are aware that over the front gate at the Auschwitz concentration camp the Nazis had a sign that said "Work makes one free."

I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do."
